Royal Canadian Mounted Police were told on Monday that the TV actor, most recently seen on Netflix’s “Virgin River,”had not been seen over the weekend. He was last spotted at his British Columbia home on May 15.
Police said in a Thursday press release that authorities had since “uncovered evidence that led investigators to believe Mr. McLean was victim of homicide.”
A homicide division took over the investigation on Wednesday. They’re working with a forensics team.
The 45-year-old actor resides in the modest Village of Lions Bay roughly 50 miles north of the U.S. border.

The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) reported Thursday that dozens of investigators were seen searching train tracks and waters near McLean’s house in the Brunswick Beach area.
His neighbors Russ and Dorothy Meiklejohn couldn’t imagine why anyone would bring harm to McLean in their small western Canadian community.
“As tiny as it is, he was a big part of it,” Dorothy told the CBC.
In addition to “Virgin River,” McLean’s long list of television appearances includes a 2025 appearance on “Murder in a Small Town,” a 2024 role in “The Killer Inside: The Ruth Finley Story” and a bit part in a 2016 episode of the CW’s “Arrow.”
