Two killed and two injured in vehicle collision in Antioch

ANTIOCH — Two people were killed and two others injured in a two-vehicle crash early Sunday morning.

Antioch police officers responded to the scene near Deer Valley Road and Balfour Road at approximately 12:21 a.m.

Two individuals were pronounced dead at the scene while two others were injured and transported to a local hospital, said the department.

“Out of respect for the families and loved ones involved, law enforcement is working to confirm the identity of one victim and complete next-of-kin notifications before releasing additional information,” Antioch Police said in a statement.

Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.

The department has urged anyone who witnessed the incident or has surveillance or dashcam footage from the area to contact Sgt. Green from the Traffic Unit at 925-779-6864.

Meanwhile, the Antioch Police Department is seeking information on two separate, unrelated hit-and-run collisions involving pedestrians on Saturday.

Two victims suffered major injuries and were airlifted to local trauma centers, said the department.

The first incident took place at E. 18th Street and Phillips Lane around 6:50 p.m., and officers arrived on scene and provided medical aid to a 54-year-old man who suffered leg injuries.

The alleged driver fled the scene, the department said.

“Witnesses describe the suspect vehicle as a dark gray sedan,” said the department.

Roughly three hours later, another pedestrian was struck by a vehicle at 801 Sunset Drive.

Officers arrived on scene at 10 p.m. and provided medical help to a 63-year-old woman who suffered major injuries to her arms and legs.

The driver fled the scene before law enforcement arrived, the department said.

“Both investigations remain active and ongoing,” said the police. “Anyone who witnessed either incident, has surveillance or dashcam footage from the surrounding areas at these times, or possesses information regarding the fleeing vehicles is urged to contact Sgt. Green of the Traffic Unit at 925-779-6864.”
