A woman who got out of her car after a crash was killed on Highway 101 in San Jose, the California Highway Patrol said.

Driving a Nissan Juke around 11:30 p.m. Monday, she had apparently rear-ended a Toyota Prius in the northbound lanes south of Oakland Road, the CHP said.
The cars both stopped, and she was standing between them when another vehicle struck the Nissan. The woman was pinned between the cars and suffered fatal injuries.

She was identified as a 63-year-old San Jose resident; her name has not been released.
The CHP said drugs or alcohol did not appear to be a factor in the crash.
