San Francisco (22-36) promoted outfielder Jonah Cox from Richmond to the major leagues before its game at the Rockies on Sunday morning, having already sent Will Brennan back down to Sacramento after the team’s 8-3 loss in Colorado on Friday, the team’s fifth loss in a row.
Cox, 24, was originally drafted by the A’s in the sixth round of the 2023 draft after a stellar career at Oral Roberts, and was traded for Ross Stripling in 2024.
Though not invited to this season’s spring training, Cox has made himself a viable major league option through 40 games in Richmond.
He is batting an even .400 with a .453 on base percentage, having also drawn 16 walks and stolen 27 bags in 44 games.

That level of production was enough to convince the Giants brass to give him the call up to the majors, though manager Tony Vitello did not put him in the starting lineup.
The Giants also called up reliever Tristan Beck from Sacramento. Beck has made just two appearances this season for San Francisco this season.
The team subsequently designated lefthander Ryan Borucki for assignment. The 32-year-old relief pitcher has a 4.94 ERA in 23.2 innings pitched.
