SF Giants unveil spring training schedule, with lockout threat hanging over 2027 season

The Giants’ regular season is planned to begin on March 25 against the Colorado Rockies.

The Giants announced on Friday morning their Cactus League schedule, which is slated to begin on Feb. 19 against the Arizona Diamondbacks and conclude on March 20 against the Chicago Cubs.

Following Cactus League play, the Giants are scheduled to play an exhibition at Sutter Health Park on March 21 against their Triple-A affiliate, followed by a two-game exhibition series against the Boston Red Sox on March 22 and 23. The Giants’ regular season is planned to begin on March 25 against the Colorado Rockies.

With the threat of a lockout hanging over the season, it’s uncertain whether spring training or the regular season will start on time.

When the current Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) expires on Dec. 1, Major League Baseball is expected to enter a lockout, which could potentially result in the loss of games. The league is expected to push for a salary cap, while the Players Association is expected to push back.

“No matter what, we are united as a front, and it’s been like that forever,” Logan Webb, the Giants’ union representative, said in July. “There’s not a single time that I can remember that — at least since I’ve been here — that the PA was not together. It’s going to stay that way.”

As planned, the Giants have 15 home games at Scottsdale Stadium on docket. They will host the Athletics on Feb. 24, the Padres on March 13 and the Dodgers on March 17. They have two split-squad games schedule on March 7 and March 18.
