SAN CARLOS – A freeway shooting left two people injured early Sunday evening in San Carlos, authorities said.

The shooting happened around 5 p.m. on northbound Highway 101, south of Holly Street, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Authorities said the victims reported hearing three to four gunshots from behind their car.
The driver, a 25-year-old man, immediately pulled onto the right shoulder of the Holly Street off-ramp and discovered his car had been hit four times, authorities said.

The shooting sent his passengers – a 22-year-old man and a 17-year-old boy – to an area hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening, authorities said.
The CHP’s Golden Gate Division Major Crimes Unit is investigating the shooting.
Following the shooting, authorities closed all lanes of northbound Highway 101 between Whipple Avenue and Holly Street. The roadway reopened around 7:10 p.m.
