HAYWARD — A bicyclist died after a collision with a car Monday morning in Hayward, police said.

The crash happened around 12:10 a.m. near the intersection of Harder and Soto roads, according to the Hayward Police Department.
Paramedics rushed the bicyclist — a 62-year-old man — to an area hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, police said. His identity is being withheld pending formal identification and notifications to next of kin.
The driver, a 52-year-old man, stayed at the scene and provided a statement, police said.

The investigation into the collision is continuing, but police do not believe alcohol or drugs played a role.
The incident marked the city’s fourth traffic fatality of the year.
