A Thai restaurant with an emphasis on brunching has opened in Concord.
Chom Thai Kitchen debuted this summer at 2118 Willow Pass Road, Suite 100C, just off of Todos Santos Plaza. “What makes us special?” the restaurant writes on Facebook. “We serve both Thai brunch and authentic Thai cuisine, offering something delicious whether you’re starting your day with a relaxing brunch or joining us later for your favorite Thai classics.”

Beginning at 10 a.m., diners can pick from among five different eggs Benedict on the menu, including smoked salmon and ribeye steak versions. There are bacon scrambles and crab omelets, as well as a dozen types of pancakes, waffles and French toast — the latter ranging from thick-cut Japanese milk bread with custard and berries to a crème brulee whose top is torched-sugar caramel.
For brunching that leans Asian, there is an orange-chicken waffle and oat porridge with pork ribs, which the menu defines as “slow-cooked oats in a silky savory broth with fall-off-the-bone pork ribs topped with ginger, green onion and crispy garlic for a warm, comforting bowl.” There is Drunken Spaghetti – you read that correctly, not just noodles but spaghetti – with a fried egg and basil, and a tom-yum seafood omelet over rice.
All this can be washed down with Thai iced tea mixed with coconut milk or matcha-based lattes in flavors like ube and strawberry.
The lunch-and-dinner menus are less fusiony and adhere to the staples you’d expect from a Thai restaurant. Curries arrive in the expected red and green varieties, though there’s also a Royal Duck and an Avocado Curry. A side of roti can be used to mop up the sauce, and a fried egg can be added for $3.

There are stir-fries and fried rice, noodle soups and papaya salads, larb and chicken satay and Thai egg rolls. A menu section highlighting the grill offers marinated and barbecued chicken and something called Crying Tiger, medium-rare ribeye served with a spicy Thai dipping sauce.
Chom Thai Kitchen is still fairly new, but it maintains a high 4.9 rating on Google Maps. Reviewers have praised its large portion sizes and requests to make certain dishes vegan. One writer says the “food reminded me of Thailand. The freshness and taste took me back.”
