MARTINEZ — A 68-year-old man died after being stabbed Thursday in Martinez, police said.

The incident happened around 5:10 p.m. on Francis Court, the Martinez Police Department said in a news release. Officers arrived to find a man on the ground with apparent stab wounds.
Medical personnel pronounced the man dead at the scene. He was identified as Todd Stewart.
The suspect left the scene in a Cadillac SUV and remained at large Thursday, police said.

Police released images of the suspect, who appeared to be wearing a light-colored hat, sunglasses, a tactical vest over a light-colored and long-sleeved shirt, dark-colored gloves, dark-colored pants and dark-colored shoes. The car appeared to be silver or gray.
An investigation is underway into the stabbing.
