Most of our trips to Eastridge Center include a flick at the AMC Theatre, sometimes with a stop at Auntie Anne’s for one of those yummy soft pretzels.

Yet, the experience for a bunch of late-night visitors to this 55-year-old mall — which opened in 1971 as reportedly the largest shopping center on the West Coast at the time — is going to look very different on Sept. 5.
That’s the night that a major rave party is set to take place there. It’s being called Mallorama and its being billed as a “takeover at the Eastridge Mall.” The event runs 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. inside the mall’s center court and organizers are “bringing a full stage, sound, lighting and a secret lineup of DJs you can’t miss,” according to a social media post by event co-promoter San Jose Foos.
“Together with Brownies & Lemonade we are throwing a well produced, curated and safe event with full staff and security,” the Facebook post reads. “Expect this to be treated with the same care like any other event we produce!”

This is reportedly the first time that a rave has been held in Eastridge Center.
Presale tickets for the event go on sale at 9 a.m. July 31 and interested parties are instructed to sign up in advance in order to get an access code to buy tickets. More information can be found at somethingnewclub.com.
“We are so excited to be bringing something so fun and unique to our beloved Eastridge Center right here in San Jose,” the same Facebook post reads. “This place holds a real special place in our hearts and to be able to do this with you all is a dream come true.”
Attempts to Eastridge Mall representatives for more information were unsuccessful.
