SAN JOSE — One person died in a house fire early Wednesday morning, authorities said.

The blaze, which broke out around 4:30 a.m. on the 1200 block of Sylvia Drive, also injured another person, according to a social media post from the San Jose Fire Department. The injured person was transported to the hospital.
The identity of the deceased person will be released by the Santa Clara County Coroner’s Office pending positive identification.
Firefighters responded to the fire and had it knocked down at 5:13 a.m., authorities said.

The fire was located in a single-family residence and did not spread to any nearby structures, authorities added. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
The Red Cross responded to the scene to provide assistance to the displaced residents of the house, including three adults and two dogs, authorities said.
Firefighters asked people to avoid the scene Wednesday morning and noted that traffic nearby remained impacted.
