The shooting happened around 12:45 a.m. on Feb. 15 at a business in the 90 block of South Second Street, San Jose police spokesperson Stacie Shih said in a news release Thursday.
Shih said an investigation revealed the victim was involved in a verbal altercation with a group of men, one of whom pulled out a gun and shot the victim multiple times.
The victim was taken to an area hospital to be treated for his injuries, which were not life-threatening, Shih said.
Patrol officers arrested one suspect — identified as Sean James Jr., 22, of Elk Grove — after employees restrained him, Shih said, adding that a privately made gun was also recovered.

Shih said detectives identified three other suspects as Isaac Ortiz-Guerrero, 24, of San Jose, Marties Sims, 24, of San Leandro, and Gabriel Martinez, 19, of San Jose.
On May 14, all three were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and booked into Santa Clara County jail.
Searches of the suspects’ homes also turned up gang indicia, evidence related to the shooting and an illegal firearm, Shih said.
