OAKLAND — The suspect in a widespread robbery spree that police said appeared to target Latino victims has been sentenced to 20 years through a plea deal, court records show.

Arthur Lee Jackson was charged in 2023 with more than 20 counts of robbery or attempted robbery plus with murdering 28-year-old Lucio Monzon-Funes in East Oakland. In the end, Jackson pleaded no contest to robbery and accessory, and the remaining charges were dismissed, court records show. He was sentenced to prison in June.
Monzon-Funes was shot and killed during an armed robbery on the 8200 block of D Street on Jan. 21, 2021. Jackson was charged with murder after police said they tied him to the gun that was used to kill Monzon-Funes.

Jackson gets credit for more than five years that he spent in jail while the charges were pending, court records show. He was originally charged in 2021 with 30 felonies, but then prosecutors added the murder charge two years later.
