The Arizona Fall League is typically reserved for minor-league prospects, but All-Star closer Randy Rodríguez will be among the Giants’ eight representatives in the desert this October.

Along with Rodríguez, the prospects playing for the Scottsdale Scorpions include outfielder Dakota Jordan and infielder Kaeden Kent, the son of recently inducted Hall of Famer Jeff Kent.
Right-handers Miguel Mendez, Alexander Fuentes, Drake George and Darien Smith, as well as infielder Dalton Wentz, round out the group that will participate in the Arizona Fall League.
Rodríguez didn’t pitch for San Francisco this year after undergoing Tommy John surgery last September, and his upcoming participation in the Arizona Fall League is a good sign of his rehab progression.

The 27-year-old earned an All-Star selection in 2025 as a setup man, posting a 0.86 ERA over 41 2/3 innings in the first half. Rodríguez faded in the second half, allowing nine runs over nine innings before getting Tommy John surgery.
Rodríguez will be a welcome addition to San Francisco’s bullpen, which entered Tuesday ranking 19th in ERA, 18th in FIP and 27th in strikeout rate.
