A 37-year-old Hemet man was arrested by Irvine police last week after texting himself a personal, explicit video from a woman’s cellphone while installing internet service at her apartment, authorities said.

He was working as an installer for GFiber, formerly known as Google Fiber, when the alleged crime occurred, Irvine police said.
He was arrested Friday, Sept. 11, two days after the woman called police.
The woman had told them that the man had installed internet service at her apartment in August and, during the installation, he asked to use her cellphone to test the Wi-Fi signal.
The woman checked on him after about 10 to 15 minutes, she told police, but she could not see what he was doing with the phone.

Sometime after the installer left, the victim was using her iPad when she noticed an outgoing message to an unknown number containing an explicit video she had earlier sent to her partner, police said. That outgoing message had been deleted from her phone.
The victim learned the phone number belonged to the installer, police said.
He was booked into jail on suspicion of commercial burglary, sharing a private sexual image of a person without consent, and unauthorized computer access.
