The boy was arrested in the Sept. 2 robbery but it is unclear whether he’s been charged; juvenile charging records are typically filed confidentially. Police say he was arrested after they tracked the suspect’s car with license plate readers and identified it as belonging to a 25-year-old Oakland woman.
The victim, a man, was robbed around 6:30 p.m. at the San Leandro Marina by a person carrying a gun, authorities said. When police tracked down the Oakland woman, they learned she’d been the reported victim of a domestic violence incident in San Leandro involving her boyfriend, whom she identified as a 20-year-old man, authorities said.

But on Sept. 4, police in Oakland pulled over the woman’s Honda and the 17-year-old was there with her in the front seat. A handgun was found in the car. Police subsequently identified the boy as the “boyfriend” who’d been involved in the domestic violence incident in San Leandro, and the robbery victim later picked him out from a photo lineup, authorities said.
