OAKLAND — A 43-year-old Oakland man was killed in a crash last weekend in Monterey County, authorities said.

The collision happened around 9:25 p.m. on Sept. 5 on Highway 101 north of Mallory Canyon Road, the California Highway Patrol said in a news release Thursday.
The man was driving a Porsche coupe northbound when he veered to the left and crashed into a concrete wall, the CHP said. The car then left the roadway and hit a tree.

The CHP said the man was taken to a Bay Area hospital, where he died from his injuries.
The cause of the collision is under investigation. The CHP said it did not know yet if drugs or alcohol played a role.
