The 15-year lease for the 5,200-square-foot building at 4400 Stevens Creek Blvd. began on Sept. 11, documents on file with San Jose city planners show. On a 0.7-acre parcel, the restaurant will include a drive-through, outdoor seating and surface parking lot.
The rental agreement includes provisions for an additional 25 years in extensions, county files show.
The Chick-fil-A is expected to be one part of a mixed-use village known as Stevens Creek Promenade, which is slated to include apartments and a 250-room hotel, city documents show.
Having undergone multiple revisions, latest proposals call for the development of a 173-unit affordable apartment complex as the first housing phase.

Following pushback in 2019 when members of San Jose’s LGBTQ+ community rallied against plans for a Chick-fil-A at San Jose International Airport over accusations the restaurant chain’s owners supported anti-gay causes, Chick-fil-A has been in expansion mode in the city.
There is currently a restaurant open at 3123 Silver Creek Road. The company paid $4.5 million in 2023 for the property that previously was a surface parking lot.
Chick-fil-A has also proposed a new restaurant for another surface parking lot property at 4785 Hamilton Ave. in Southwest San Jose next to the Westgate Center shopping mall.
Also in the proposal stage is a Chick-fil-A at 1301 West San Carlos St. in San Jose, on a site between the city’s downtown and shopping centers at Santana Row and Westfield Valley Fair.
