The Bay Area’s 13-time World Pizza Champion, Tony Gemignani, and his flagship San Francisco restaurant have again taken home international honors.

Tony’s Pizza Napoletana and another California competitor, Pizzeria Sei in Los Angeles, tied for No. 5 pizzeria at the 50 Top Pizza World 2026 Awards in Naples this month.
Besides Napoletana in North Beach, Gemignani owns the Slice House restaurant group, with franchise locations soon to open in his native Fremont, plus San Jose, Menlo Park and Brentwood.

The top ranking in the world went to a London pizzeria, Napoli on the Road; New York’s Una Pizza Napoletana ranked No. 2; and Confine pizzeria in Milan was No. 3. There was another tie within the top five: Two pizzerias in Italy — I Masanielli di Francesco Martucci in Caserta and Seu Pizza Illuminati in Rome — tied for No. 4.
Rounding out the top 10 were Leggera Pizza Napoletana of São Paulo, Brazil, at No. 6; RistoPizza in Tokyo at No. 7; Baldoria in Madrid at No. 8; The Pizza Bar on 38th in Tokyo at No. 9; and Razza in Jersey City at No. 10.
