The shooting happened about 2:20 a.m. near the intersection of South First and East Reed streets, according to San Jose police spokesperson Stacie Shih. Officers arrived at the scene to find three men suffering from at least one gunshot wound each.
All three victims were taken to area hospitals, where one ultimately died from his injuries, Shih said. The Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office will release the deceased man’s identity once it is confirmed and his next of kin is notified.
The other victims’ injuries were described as not life-threatening.
An initial investigation revealed the victims were traveling in a vehicle in the area when the suspect or suspects fired multiple gunshots into their car, according to Shih.
Witnesses reported hearing multiple gunshots and seeing the victims’ vehicle — a four-door Porsche — crashed against The Fay, an apartment building at 10 E. Reed St.

Police on Monday did not announce any arrests or release any suspect information.
Shih said detectives are investigating the fatal shooting as the city’s 10th homicide of the year. Police had investigated the same number of killings at this point last year.
