REDWOOD CITY – Redwood City police on Monday arrested a 34-year-old man on suspicion of stalking a former love interest and repeatedly violating a domestic violence restraining order.

Officers opened an investigation on Sept. 5 after the man was spotted repeatedly driving near the victim’s residence and he had called her more than 75 times that day, according to the Redwood City Police Department.
Police said the man sped away from officers when they tried to stop him, but they later tracked him down and arrested him on suspicion of stalking and violating a restraining order.
The man was booked into San Mateo County jail, but he posted bond and was released from custody on Sept. 6. By 3:30 p.m., he had called the victim more than 400 times and had again gone to her home before leaving the area, according to police.

On Monday, officers took the man into custody after he returned to the victim’s residence, police said, adding that an un-serialized handgun and ammunition were found in his car.
Police said the man was arrested on suspicion of stalking, violating a restraining order, possessing a concealed firearm and committing a felony while released on bail. Jail records show he is being held without bail at the Maguire Correctional Facility in Redwood City.
The investigation remains ongoing, according to police.
