BERKELEY — Saturday marked the 16th anniversary of the unsolved homicide of Adolfo Ignacio Celedón Bravo and police are once again offering $50,000 to anyone who can help solve the case.

On Sept. 12, 2010, Celedón — nicknamed “Fito” — was walking home from a party with his fiancé, Amber Nelson, at around 3:41 a.m. when the two were allegedly accosted at Adeline and Emerson streets by two men who assaulted and robbed them, according to the Berkeley Police Department. It was Celedón’s 35th birthday.
One of the robbers shot Celedón, who was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead. Nelson was punched in the face during the assault, the department said.
Officials said the two attackers fled in a dark, older model SUV.
“Detectives remain hopeful that a member of the community will come forward with information,” the department said in a statement Saturday. “Even the smallest detail could prove critical to solving this case.”
The department is offering a $50,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or people responsible for Celedón’s death.

Six years ago, on the 10th anniversary of Celedón’s murder, the Berkeley Police Department first increased the reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction in the case to $50,000.
Celedón was a Chilean national and the case drew the attention of the Chilean government, which contributed funds to a $20,000 reward for information leading to arrests in the case in 2014.
