By year’s end, Chipotle Mexican Grill will expand its already-large Bay Area footprint by five restaurants, primarily in the East Bay.
One, a San Leandro location, opened earlier this week, on Sept. 8. This Fairmont Square restaurant, at Fairmont Drive and Hesperian Boulevards, makes two for that city. Neighboring Hayward also has two.
Next will be a San Francisco Chipotle in the Mission Rock area of the city. That’s scheduled for Sept. 23.
Scheduled to open later this year will be a location in Fremont at Mission and Warm Springs boulevards, where Chipotle is moving into a former Taco Bell; one in Livermore at 2100 Portola Ave.; and one in Antioch on Lone Tree Way in the Antioch Town Center.

Those Fremont and Antioch restaurants will include a Chipotlane, a drive-thru lane that allows customers to pick up orders already placed digitally.
The Chipotle chain’s current lineup of proteins for customizable burritos, bowls, tacos, salads and quesadillas includes a limited-time offering, Pollo Asado with lime and cilantro.
