SAN JOSE — A man died Wednesday night after being shot in an area just south of the city’s downtown district, authorities said.

The incident occurred around 10:20 p.m. in the area of Oak Street and Palm Street, according to a news release from the San Jose Police Department.
Police arrived to the scene to find an adult man suffering from at least one gunshot wound, authorities said. The man died at the scene despite attempts at lifesaving measures.
The victim’s identity was not immediately released by the Santa Clara County Office of the Medical Examiner pending identification and notification of next of kin.
The incident remains under investigation by SJPD’s Homicide Unit. A motive and circumstances are not yet known.
This was San Jose’s 19th homicide of the year.
