A third straight day of less-than-smooth service for BART riders began early Thursday, when riders heading to and from the San Francisco International Airport endured major delays because of an equipment issue, officials said.

The “train-control issue” near the South San Francisco station shut down BART service between the San Bruno and Colma stations, agency spokesperson Michelle Robertson said. Riders on the Yellow Line and Red Line were told to expect major delays through the area. Yellow Line trains come through the area from Antioch, and the Red Line trains bring passengers from Richmond.
Delays on the rest of the system were minimal, Robertson said.
BART had a train making a loop between the San Bruno and San Francisco Airport stations and between the San Francisco Airport and Millbrae stations.
Shuttle trains between Millbrae and SFO, and between SFO and San Bruno also were being utilized. The SamTrans bus service in San Mateo County was providing service on bus ECR to all stops from the Millbrae to Colma stations.

BART already was without service on its Green Line, which runs from Daly City to Berryessa/San Jose. That service line was down as workers continue to repair damage left over from a fire at a substation near the Daly City station on Tuesday night.
Riders also endured major delays on Wednesday after track equipment problems forced BART to close portions of its Green Line and it’s Blue Line. The Blue Line runs from the Dublin-Pleasanton station to Daly City.
