A car-to-car shooting that left a driver critically wounded apparently arose from a dispute outside a Sam’s Club, the Sacramento County sheriff’s office said.

The target of the shooting around 6 p.m. Wednesday was a vehicle carrying two adults and two children. The man suffered multiple gunshot wounds; a baby’s car seat was also struck but none of the passengers was injured.
Investigators determined that the driver had been involved in an argument minutes earlier at the Sam’s Club store in Florin, at Sacramento’s southeast edge. One of the disputants apparently drove after the other, and the shooting happened about a mile away, the sheriff’s report said.

The shooter fled, and no arrest was announced Wednesday night.
The attack continued a violent week on Sacramento-area roads:
— On Tuesday afternoon, a 38-year-old woman was fatally shot outside a Panera by a man who the sheriff’s office said had been stalking and harassing her. Pursued by sheriff’s deputies, the suspected attacker pulled over on Highway 50; he was found dead of what was believed to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
— Late Monday night, a driver was fatally shot by one or more law enforcement officers after a pursuit ended on Highway 50 in the Lake Natoma area. The agencies involved have not said why the person was pursued or what led to the shooting.
