Highway 140 into Yosemite National Park has reopened Saturday after firefighters reported improving containment of the Colorado Fire.

The road – one of the main routes into the park – had previously been closed after the wildfire broke out roughly 10 miles west of Yosemite National Park. By Wednesday, the fire had grown to 233 acres and over a hundred firefighters were deployed to the fire. As of Sunday afternoon, the fire was 73% contained.
Labor Day weekend is one of the busiest times of the year for Yosemite National Park, which remains open.

According to a Facebook post by CAL FIRE Madera-Mariposa-Merced Unit, fire crews are continuing to work on mop up and patrol around the fire.
“Fire personnel and equipment remain throughout the area and near roadways, please use caution when driving,” said the post.
