OAKLANDAn armed man is at large near Manzanita Park in Oakland after threatening to kill a woman and shooting at police officers, authorities said.

Sunday at 10:30 a.m., the Oakland Police Department received multiple calls of a man threatening to kill a woman near Manzanita Park. When police responded to the incident, the man began shooting at the officers and officers shot back, after which the man fled into the neighborhood.
Officers then brought the woman to safety and set up a perimeter around the neighborhood.
According to a video posted on X on Sunday afternoon, Oakland police believed the man was still in the neighbordhood going through different backyards.

Police asked residents near Manzanita Park to shelter in place and call 911 with any information.
“We’re hoping for a safe, peaceful resolution,” said Oakland Police Chief James Beere in the video.
