MILPITAS — A 48-year-old Milpitas father of two is among the hundreds of people missing following catastrophic floods along the Nepal-Tibet border, according to his brother.

Prabhath Sajeepa was traveling through Gyirong Port, a land border crossing in the Himalayas, when the disaster struck, his brother, Praneeth Kumar, said in a social media post.
“We have not been able to establish contact with him since,” Kumar said.
Sajeepa is a technical director at Everpure, a Santa Clara-based enterprise data storage company, according to his LinkedIn page.
Originally from India, Sajeepa has been an American citizen for about 15 years, NBC Bay Area reported.
An avalanche is believed to have caused Wednesday’s floods. The disaster killed nearly 600 people and left almost 2,500 missing, according to the Associated Press.
Sajeepa was among 80 people on a pilgrimage organized by the Isha Foundation, a nonprofit spiritual organization founded in 1992 by Jagadish Vasudev, also known as Sadhguru.

In a recorded statement, Vasudev said the group reached the immigration facility in Gyirong Port roughly 10 minutes before a torrent of mud and water hit the town.
“We have no … official confirmation of any kind, but looking at the scale of destruction, it looks bad,” he said, noting that the facility, along with half of the town, was washed away.
Kumar said his family is urgently seeking information from anyone who may have seen Sajeepa.
“We are praying for Prabhath and everyone affected by this terrible disaster,” he said.
