A mother was caught on video climbing through the window of a Northern California school bus during an incident in which parents confronted a driver who refused to let the children out. One parent was arrested, the sheriff’s office said.

Several parents showed up at the bus that had pulled over on a San Andreas roadside after school Monday because of what the district superintendent called “a student behavior incident,” Sacramento TV station KCRA reported.
Video that KCRA obtained from a passenger on the bus shows a woman climbing through the half-size bus window and confronting the driver. The Calaveras County sheriff’s office said a woman was arrested on suspicion of vandalism because glass broke while she was pounding on the bus door; it did not specify whether she was the person seen in the video.

A student on the bus told the TV station that the driver initially pulled over because kids were “screaming and stuff.” One student then climbed out through a window, and the driver said nobody would be allowed to get off until law enforcement had arrived. But parents arrived first, and some of them were determined to get their children off the bus.
A statement from Calaveras County Unified superintendent Kassandra Meeks said: “The bus driver followed District protocols and remained calm and appropriate throughout the incident.” She added that action would be taken against students who misbehaved on the bus.
