Oakland’s Chinatown is gearing up for one of its biggest annual celebrations.
The Oakland Chinatown StreetFest 2026 will take place 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Aug. 22-23, with festivities centering on the block of Franklin Street between Eighth and Ninth streets. The festival will have three live-entertainment stages with music and cultural performances, plus more than 90 vendor booths selling food, drinks, crafts, books and more.

StreetFest is known for drawing a crowd. Previous years have seen more than 60,000 people flocking to the weekend-long event. Now in its 37th year, the festival is free to attend. The closest BART station is 12th Street, and there is parking in an underground lot at the Pacific Renaissance Plaza (388 Ninth St.).

This year, the event will feature lion dances and a ping-pong tournament. Organizers have shared a partial list of vendors, to whet the public’s appetite. Here they are:

- District 11 Catering: Vietnamese cuisine, cooked on site
- Rhome’s Bistro: Asian-fusion cuisine such as pork-belly adobo, musubi or cheeseburger lumpia, pork-belly chips, ube sago and coffee jelly
- Eastwind Books: longtime Bay Area bookstore specializing in Asian-American and ethnic-studies literature
- The Creamy Goat: goat-milk ice cream, coffee, desserts and smoothies
- Jinbao Chestnuts: roasted chestnuts
