PALO ALTO – An 18-year-old Central California man was arrested in connection with a fatal hit-and-run collision early Thursday morning in Palo Alto, according to authorities.

The crash, which involved a motorcycle and a car, happened around 6:05 a.m. in the No. 4 lane of southbound Highway 101, south of University Avenue, the California Highway Patrol said in a news release. The motorcyclist died at the scene.
Investigators determined that the driver hit the motorcyclist and did not stop at the scene as required by law, according to the CHP.
While searching the scene for evidence, officers discovered a license plate that had fallen off the car, the CHP said. Investigators used the plate to identify the suspect vehicle as an Acura TL, which was found a short time later abandoned in Sunnyvale.

Around 12:15 p.m., the driver — identified as Julian Adame Jr. of Kingsburg, California — was found in Cutler, California, and arrested on suspicion of felony hit-and-run and vehicular manslaughter, according to the CHP. Adame was later booked into San Mateo County jail.
“Our thoughts are with the victim’s family and loved ones, whose life was lost in this senseless crash,” CHP Redwood City area Cmdr. Patrick Etchebame said in a statement. “Through determined investigative work, and assistance from our allied agency partners, our officers tracked the suspect across multiple counties and took him into custody within hours. We will continue to pursue those who flee and hold them accountable.”
