RICHMOND — Two people died in a pair of suspected arson fires in the city’s Central District on Tuesday night, authorities said.

Few details were available early Wednesday, but police confirmed the fatalities following two fires that burned in the 200 block of 15th Street. Authorities said the first fire started about 8 p.m., and the second blaze began minutes later.

Police and members of the Richmond Fire Department said they will address the situation at a noon press conference. Police were investigating a homicide aspect, and fire officials said the fires are suspected to be arson.
