SAN JOSE — Police on Monday announced the arrest of a suspect in a shooting nearly three months ago in San Jose.

The suspect, identified as 18-year-old San Jose resident Tye Mendoza, was taken into custody last week, San Jose police spokesperson Stacie Shih said in a news release.
The shooting happened about 2:40 p.m. on June 1 near the intersection of Palmia Drive and Lavander Avenue, according to Shih. Officers arrived to find multiple shell casings and an unoccupied vehicle that had been struck multiple times by gunfire.
No injuries were reported.
Shih said an investigation revealed the shooting was gang-motivated. Detectives identified Mendoza as the primary suspect and obtained warrants to arrest him and search his home.

On Aug. 11, detectives found Mendoza in San Jose and arrested him on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, shooting into a vehicle and other firearm-related crimes, according to Shih.
Shih said a search of his home turned up a loaded privately made short-barreled rifle and a loaded semiautomatic pistol.
