ALTAMONT — A brush fire scorched 16 acres Monday evening in the Altamont Pass, authorities said.

Dubbed the Flynn Fire, the blaze ignited just after 7 p.m. on Interstate 580, north of Flynn Road, in the unincorporated community of Altamont, according to the Cal Fire Santa Clara Unit.

Forward progress of the fire was stopped just before 8 p.m., Cal Fire said in an incident update.

There were no immediate reports of injuries or damage to structures.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
