SAN JOSE – One person was in critical condition and another was in custody following a stabbing Wednesday in San Jose, police said.

Officers were initially called to the area of Auzerais Avenue and Race Street just before 6 p.m. for a report of an assault with a deadly weapon, according to the San Jose Police Department. A caller said two people were involved in a physical altercation.
Police said officers arrived to find a person suffering from at least one stab wound. They were taken to an area hospital in critical condition.

Officers tracked down the other person and arrested them on suspicion of crimes including assault with a deadly weapon, police said. The suspect was booked into Santa Clara County jail.
Police said the investigation is “active and ongoing.” No other details were released Wednesday.
