SAN JOSE — A man was arrested Sunday night on suspicion of causing nearly $90,000 in damage to a pair of courthouses in downtown San Jose, authorities said.

Around 8:15 p.m., a security guard notified the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office that a man was throwing rocks at the glass windows and doors of the Family Justice Center Courthouse, located at 201 N. First St., according to Sgt. Katie Oliveri.
Oliveri said the man also vandalized the planter boxes at the Downtown Superior Courthouse, located at 191 N. First St.
Deputies arrived at the scene 10 minutes later and spoke with the guard, who provided footage of the man, Oliveri said.

Around 8:35 p.m., deputies found the man a short distance from the scene and took him into custody, Oliveri said. He was arrested on suspicion of felony vandalism, as well as a probation violation, and booked into the Main Jail in San Jose.
Oliveri said the damages to both courthouses “totaled close to $90,000.”
“There is no outstanding threat to the public and there were no injuries during the event,” Oliveri said.
