Some Nevada communities north of Reno are under evacuation orders because of two wildfires, one of which started in California’s Lassen County.

The Bug Fire began along Highway 395 on Saturday, Aug. 8, and as of Monday morning had burned 15,000 acres (23 square miles), according to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection. Its ignition site was barely a mile east of the boundary of the Elephant Fire, which burned 13,930 acres in California last month.
The Fred Mtn Fire, to the northeast of Bug, started on Sunday and had burned 1,393 acres.
Evacuation orders Monday covered about 125 square miles near the Lemmon and Golden valleys, 10 miles north of Reno.
