Grand theft: Between 10:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m., someone stole a leaf blower from the front yard of a residence in the 12000 block of Country Squire Lane for a total loss valued at approximately $1,499.
July 28
Petty theft: Between 9:10 a.m. and 11:45 a.m., someone stole an unattended purse at Saratoga High School on Herriman Avenue. The purse contained a cell phone, which the victim tracked to the Saratoga Library on Saratoga Avenue. The victim confronted the suspect there, who returned the cell phone. The purse was located in the bushes outside the library but was missing a car key valued at approximately $650.

Theft by false pretenses: A Saratoga resident reported that someone tricked them into sending money through various mobile payment applications as a down payment for an apartment rental that did not exist, for a total loss of about $5,100.
