OAKLAND — A car driven by a child under 10, riding with a passenger of a similar age, lost control Thursday morning in East Oakland, hitting a woman walking her dog, then crashing into a wall and fence, authorities said.

All three people were transported to hospitals. The juveniles, both boys, were said to be in stable condition and the woman was in critical condition. The dog was later found, unharmed, in the area.
The collision happened about 9:15 a.m. at the intersection of 35th and Mangels avenues, just south of Interstate 580.
Assistant police chief Casey Johnson said that the investigation had determined that one of the two juveniles was driving the vehicle, a Toyota Camry, northbound on 35th Avenue when they were involved in a collision with another vehicle that resulted in their vehicle losing control and hitting the woman, who was in a crosswalk at the time.
The vehicle the youths were in belongs to their parents and police said the parents were cooperating with investigators.
