SAN JOSE — Two men have been charged with murder in a shooting that killed a man and wounded two others in an industrial zone late last month, according to authorities and court records.

A woman has also been charged in connection with the July 26 killing of 23-year-old San Jose resident Henry Garcia Rodriguez, on allegations she helped the main shooting suspect flee the scene and avoid arrest. A second man accused of helping orchestrate the crime is being sought by police.
Jose Rivera, 30, of San Jose, has been charged with one count of murder and two counts of attempted murder in the violent encounter, and 25-year-old San Jose resident Laura Beltran-Gaitan was charged with being an accessory after the fact. Both were arrested July 31 in San Jose and were arraigned Tuesday; records show Rivera is being held without bail at the Santa Clara County Main Jail and Beltran-Gaitan is out of jail custody.
A third defendant, Rodolfo Antonio Garcia Pareja, a 22-year-old Newark resident, has also been charged with murder in Garcia Rodriguez’s death and one count of attempted murder related to one of the injured victims. He was actually inside a vehicle that had been stopped by police not long after the shooting, but he was not implicated in the crime until after he was let go. An arrest warrant has since been issued for him.
The shooting was reported around 2:55 a.m. July 26 near Seventh Street and Leo Avenue, about a half-mile south of CEFCU Stadium, according to San Jose police. Emergency dispatchers were told that three people had been shot.
Arriving police officers found two men suffering from gunshot injuries lying near a blue Toyota Prius; Garcia Rodriguez died at the scene and the other was taken to a hospital in critical condition after being shot in the back.

Before he was transported from the scene, the surviving victim “told police that ‘Rodolfo’ did it, although it seem(s) unclear if ‘Rodolfo’ physically shot him or just set him up,” according to a San Jose police affidavit accompanying the criminal charges.
As officers were examining the shooting site, a separate patrol unit stopped a speeding white 2019 BMW 330i near South 11th and Keyes streets and discovered one of the occupants was the third victim, a man who had been shot in the arm. The affidavit states that Garcia Pareja was also in the car, but police told this news organization that his role in the shooting was not known at that moment.
“Further investigation revealed that suspect Rodolfo Garcia Pareja aided and abetted suspect Rivera,” the affidavit reads, adding that “Beltran-Gaitan was an accessory, helping suspect Rivera flee the scene and attempt to avoid police detection and arrest.”
The precise circumstances and motive for the killing remains under investigation. The shooting marked the city’s 16th homicide of the year investigated by San Jose police; the same number of homicides had been recorded at the same point in 2025.
