SAN LEANDRO — Thirteen residents were displaced and firefighters rescued three cats in an apartment complex fire Tuesday night, officials said.

No injuries were reported.
The fire broke out about 6:53 p.m. Tuesday at an eight-unit apartment complex in the 4700 block of Springlake Drive.
When Alameda County Fire Department firefighters got on scene, they found a ground floor unit on fire with flames spreading to second-floor units, spokeswoman Cheryl Hurd said. All residents had gotten out safely.
Firefighters rescued three cats from some of the units and reunited them with their owners.

Officials said two units were destroyed by the fire and and two suffered minor smoke damage. A damage estimate was not available.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Hurd said the Red Cross was providing assistance for 13 displaced residents and a total of eight pets.
