SAN FRANCISCO – Monday’s trade deadline loomed as Luis Arraez batted leadoff and Heliot Ramos slotted in at the No. 3 slot for the Giants’ 16-3 romp over the visiting Brewers on Wednesday afternoon.

If it was to be his final start at Oracle Park wearing the orange and black, Arraez made it a game to remember for the 35,399 who attended.
He had four hits and two RBIs while pushing his average to a National League-leading .329. Fellow trade candidate Heliot Ramos chipped in with three hits, two RBIs and a walk.
Pitchers Tyler Mahle and Robbie Ray, both candidates to be sent away next week, watched from the dugout as the Giants blew the game open in the sixth inning with seven runs. San Francisco finished the day with 17 hits and were aided by three Milwaukee errors.
Manager Tony Vitello made it no secret that the clubhouse is well aware that the roster will experience a shakeup at the deadline, but described the upcoming event as a positive.
“There will be changes, for sure,” manager Tony Vitello said, later adding. “For any team that makes a change throughout the league, it’s a bit of a restart to the season or a fresh start.”
Jackson Flora, the team’s first-round pick and presumed future of the pitching staff, watched from the stands with his East Bay family.
Meanwhile, the franchise’s current ace Logan Webb made his 19th start of the season. Thomas Pannone took the ball for the Brewers.

Webb earned his sixth win of the season by going six innings and allowing five hits, while striking out four on 96 pitches.
His rookie catcher, Daniel Susac, helped give the right hander some early run support by belting the first two home runs of his career. His first home run flew 411 feet, scraped over the center field wall and gave the Giants a 3-0 lead in the second inning. Susac hit his second homer in the eighth inning off position player, and Santa Rosa native, Andrew Vaughn.
Brice Turang cut into the Giants’ 3-0 lead in the third with an RBI groundout after Webb allowed back-to-back singles to open the inning. But that was all the damage the Brewers could do in the inning as Webb induced a double-play grounder to escape trouble.
Garrett Mitchell drove in another run in the fourth to cut the Giants lead to 3-2, but San Francisco padded tits lead in the sixth inning when Christian Koss and Arraez each singled in a run with the bases loaded.
Ramos then made it 7-2 in the sixth when he singled in a pair with a hit to shallow right, and Rafael Devers drove in another run and reached on a fielder’s choice when catcher Gary Sachez dropped the ball at home plate. Jung Hoo Lee drove in two more during the Giants’ seven-run inning.
Osleivis Basabe made his Giants debut and struck out when he subbed in for Arraez in the eighth inning.
Thus ended a painful series against the Brewers that saw the Giants suffer a slew of injuries. Harrison Bader aggravated an injury to his left foot while riding a scooter. That news came a day after the Giants announced infielder Casey Schmitt tore the meniscus in his left knee and that rookie pitcher Trevor McDonald needed to undergo UCL surgery.

The Giants will begin their four-game series in San Diego on Thursday.
Injury updates:
- Schmitt does not have surgery scheduled yet, but Vitello said he is expected to undergo a procedure “as soon as possible.” Schmitt was enjoying a breakout season and had hit 21 home runs.
- Bader’s foot is “swollen and definitely not in ideal shape,” and Vitello said the latest injury puts “everything on the back burner” with his recovery from plantar fasciitis.
- Matt Chapman is close to returning, Vitello said. Chapman did baserunning, work on defense and took some swings. Chapman has missed nearly a month with an abdomen injury.
