CONCORD — A judge has issued an arrest warrant for an Antioch rapper after he failed to show up in court and enter a plea in a pimping case, court records show.

Keith Haywood, 38, is wanted for allegedly failing to show up for a mid-June court appearance, after he was held to answer on charges of pandering, pimping, being a felon in possession of a firearm, and carrying a concealed stolen firearm, court records show. A placeholder court date has been set for the year’s end.
Haywood, who raps under the stage name “Mon$ta,” was arrested in a Jan. 30 sting led by Concord police, who sent undercover officers to a Hilton hotel to answer prostitution ads. In response to one officer’s request, a suspected sex worker showed up to the hotel in an Uber ride, allegedly with Haywood, and requested an electronic money transfer be sent to her screen name, @monstagirlinc, authorities said.
When police moved in and arrested Haywood, he was wearing a satchel that contained $3,110 and a pistol that had been reported stolen out of Phoenix, according to authorities. Haywood was charged on Feb. 4, but later posted $75,000 bail to secure his release from jail, records show.

The woman with Haywood told police they were romantically involved. Authorities say they found text messages between them consistent with pimp/prostitute interactions, including discussions about how the sex trafficking proceeds were being spent.
He was held to answer on the charges after a late May preliminary hearing, and was supposed to enter a not guilty plea on June 15, but failed to show up, according to court records. The warrant will remain active until he’s arrested or reports to court.
