The Gilroy Garlic festival started Friday and goes through the weekend for a second year in a row following a six-year hiatus brought on by a tragic shooting. The volunteer-run festival remains just a fraction of its peak size and is sold out for the weekend, even with a larger area devoted to the festival at the Hecker Pass Outdoor Events Center near Gilroy Gardens. The community is treated to lots of entertainment, garlic-themed products, activities and, of course, all types of garlic-infused culinary delights.
