Contra Costa County firefighters knocked down a separate pair of residential fires in Pittsburg and Antioch on Friday and Saturday in which three people were hospitalized.

Firefighters responded at 7:25 p.m. on Friday to a two-alarm fire at a single family home in the 500 block of Putnam Street in Antioch that left two people injured. The fire was knocked down by 8:10 p.m., the Contra Costa Fire Protection District said on X.
One of the injured persons was transported by helicopter to an area hospital, spokesperson George Laing said. He said he could not disclose the conditions of the injured people. The cause of the fire was under investigation, he said. KRON 4 reported that the blaze may have ignited in association with a barbecue, but Laing said it “was not related to a party.”

Firefighters then responded to another two-alarm fire at a single-family home at 3:20 a.m. near the intersection of Panoramic Avenue and Riverview Drive in Pittsburg. One person was transported to UC Davis with injuries, also by helicopter. Laing said that person’s condition is unknown.
The fire is under investigation, which will be delayed by major damage to the home, Laing said.
