The alleged attack happened at about 10:30 a.m. Saturday, when police received a report about a woman screaming for help at a residence on San Francisco Boulevard. She said the suspect tried to strike her with a hammer, police Cpl. Anthony Halligan said.
Investigators determined that the suspect and the woman were involved in an argument that turned violent.
“The male subject made statements indicating that he intended to kill the female roommate,” Halligan said.
