OAKLAND — An Oakland man suspected to be responsible for two bank robberies at the same downtown area bank last week has been arrested, police said Monday.

In a statement, Oakland police said they arrested the man on Friday.
The two bank robberies happened on July 9 and on July 15. Police did not say immediately in which block the bank is located.
In each robbery, the man entered the bank, demanded money and left with an undisclosed amount of cash, police said. They added that in the first incident, he held an employee at knife point. That employee was not injured physically.

Surveillance video and physical evidence helped investigators link the two robberies to the same person, police said. An Alameda County judge issued a no-bail warrant for the man’s arrest last Thursday. Police said he is suspected of robbery, false imprisonment, and probation violation.
The Alameda County District Attorney’s Office has not yet filed charges officially, police said. Police encouraged anyone with information to contact their robbery unit at 510-238-3326, because the investigation is ongoing.
