SAN JOSE – A pedestrian was struck and killed by a driver Tuesday night in San Jose, police said.

The incident happened just before 9 p.m. at the intersection of Vistapark Drive and West Capitol Expressway, the San Jose Police Department said in a social media post.
Police said the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.
The adult driver and two juveniles were taken to an area hospital for treatment, police said.

Police said Capitol Expressway from Copperfield Drive to Vistapark Drive will be blocked for a “significant amount of time.” People were urged to avoid the area and use alternate routes.
