REDWOOD CITY — A 30-year-old Redwood City man has been arrested in connection with a pair of burglaries and sexual assaults on the Peninsula, police said.

The most recent incident happened in the early morning hours of July 5 in the 400 block of Jackson Avenue in Redwood City, according to the Redwood City Police Department.
Investigators learned that a person entered a home unlawfully while the occupants were sleeping and sexually assaulted a woman before leaving the residence, police said.
Detectives identified the suspect as Jose Manuel Gonzalez Cruz and arrested him Tuesday.
Cruz was also identified as a suspect in a similar incident investigated by the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office, police said. That incident happened May 10 in the 1700 block of Walnut Street in San Carlos.

Cruz was booked into the Maguire Correctional Facility in Redwood City, police said.
On Friday, the San Mateo County District Attorney’s Office charged Cruz with assault with intent to commit a sexual offense during the commission of a first-degree burglary, attempted first-degree burglary, peeking or prying while loitering and indecent exposure.
